This depends on how you plan to use the tools. That's what it comes down to. So if this is a  one-off car repair specialty tool that you'll probably never use again, budget tools are the way to go. If you're a professional mechanic or maintenance tech, you need to invest in proper tools so you don't get hurt or waste time.

Sounds like a "maximum lag error" caused by servo gain needing adjustment or you simply have a bad encoder or cable.

Anyone have a cheat sheet on how to clear the Replace Fan Warning on ABB drive? Sometimes a fan is needed and sometimes it's ridiculous to replace the drive's cooling fan. There has to be an easier way than the manual recommends.

Electrical and Electronic / ID an old relay / contactor
Last post by Silverstash - July 30, 2025, 08:49:PM
Can anyone identify this?  It looks like a set of 3 relays or a 3-pole contactor ( although the armatures are not connected).  The small center solenoid and right solenoid are wrapped by torsion springs,  but I can't quite figure out what they do because of the corrosion. Any ideas?  Vintage?

Hello Everyone,

My name is Thor.

I have a machine from Germany made around 2006 which is using aa Acopos 1022 drive to operate a paper cutting knife. There is an HMI installed. When running the machine, the paper cutting knife cannot make it through the paper and an error shows up on the HMI. There's no error on the drive.

The error is: Lag error stop limit exceeded

I want to know if it is possible to connect to the drive with a computer and see if I can make adjustments to correct this error.

Let me know if you want any other information and I'll supply it, if possible.

Sincerely,
Thor

Are you attentive to the vibration of your equipment? Vibration serves as a crucial indicator of machine and mechanism health, and overlooking it can lead to significant failures.

Using modern devices like the Balanset-1A and Balanset-4 allows for precise vibration measurements and the timely detection of issues such as bearing wear or shaft misalignment. Regular vibration monitoring helps prevent unexpected failures and extends equipment life.

After implementing regular vibration monitoring with the Balanset-1A, users have noted significant reductions in breakdowns and downtimes. This not only saves money but also enhances overall productivity.

Don't put off taking care of your equipment. Start monitoring vibrations today with modern instruments and ensure reliable machine operation.

Never seen anything like that. Only suggestion is to keep working backwards. Is it  possible to temporarily feed the machine from another source?
